Beginner Classes

If you have attended a Try Curling session and enjoyed it, and you would like to learn more then our beginner sessions are for you. These are group sessions that individuals can book into. There is no commitment to continue, but we hope that, as you learn the game, you will continue to enjoy it, and and we offer lots of ways to help you improve.

Beginner Course

The beginner course is designed to teach you the basics of the game and get you ready to join a club should wish to do so. It consists of two 2-hour sessions that gently introduce you to all aspects of the game, improving your skills along the way. It is not for complete beginners, participants should have attended a Try Curling session or have previous curling experience. Made up of 2 sessions that are individually bookable to be as flexible as possible, just make sure you do the beginner 1 before the beginner 2.

Beginner Extra

After the beginner course, this session is all about having fun while playing a game. The coaches will guide you, while also explaining some of the traditions and etiquette of curling. Participants should have completed the beginner course or have enough experience to be able to take part in a game.

Refresher

Run at the start of the season, these sessions are aimed at getting you confident on the ice again. Participants should have attended a Try Curling session or have some previous curling experience.

What to Wear

You will need to wear clothes that do not restrict you movement, and have layers so you can keep warm on the ice. You also need some clean-soled trainers (wash them off if they have been worn outside) to change into at the ice rink. Everything else you need will be provided.
