About the Club

Our after-school curling club is the perfect place for children to discover the exciting sport of curling in a fun, friendly, and supportive environment.

No experience is needed — we'll teach everyone the basics, from how to deliver a stone with balance and control, to sweeping technique and understanding the strategy behind the game. Each session blends skill-building games with practice so that children pick up the fundamentals at a pace that's enjoyable rather than pressured.

But curling is about much more than just the throw. It's a game built on teamwork, communication, and respect — values we build into every session. Children will learn to work together as a team, take turns as skip, encourage their teammates, and celebrate good shots (their own and others). Along the way, they'll build confidence, patience, and good sportsmanship, both on and off the ice.

Whether your child is looking for a new sport to try, a chance to make friends, or simply a fun and active way to spend their time, our club offers something for everyone. All abilities are welcome, and our friendly coaches are on hand throughout to guide, encourage, and cheer everyone on.

All coaches and assistants are qualified, PVG checked, and hold a Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport (CWPS) certificate.

Age and Progression

We recommend a minimum age of 10, primary 6, and there is no upper age limit — several of our members happily stay on well into high school. Younger children aged 8-9 may be considered on an individual basis, depending on their ability to focus and their physical strength. We are happy to discuss this with you.

All newcomers must attend a taster session first. This gives children the chance to see whether curling is for them, and allows our coaches to get a sense of how they might settle into the club. It isn't a test or a selection process — everyone is welcome — but it does help us make sure each child gets the most out of joining.

For those keen to take their curling further, there's a natural next step: the rink is also home to Kinross Junior Curling Club, which meets on Sunday afternoons and supports young curlers from primary 7 up to the age of 21. Many children from the After-School Club go on to join the Junior Club, where they can continue training and start competing. The coaches will let you know when they feel your child would benefit from the move to the junior club.

Organisation

The After School Club runs two blocks of 8 sessions per season — one in the autumn and one in the new year. These are payable in advance, and there are no refunds for missed weeks. .Where space allows, it is possible to join part-way through a block, and the price will be adjusted accordingly.

Prior to the start of each block there will be a taster session for anyone who is interested in trying us out. These can be booked online, see the bottom of this page for any upcoming sessions. If your child is under 10 please contact us before booking.

Entry to the ASC blocks is by invitation only, as follows

  • Children who have attended previously are invited first
  • If there are spaces, anyone on the waiting list is invited
  • If there still spaces then those who have attended a recent taster are invited, otherwise they are asked if they would like to go on the waiting list.

Invites will be sent to the email address we have on record for your child, and will allow you to register them and make a payment.
